Defending 3M Champion Langer, coming off back-to-back victories in the British Senior Men's Open and the U.S. Senior Men's Open the prior two weeks, told members of his introduction to golf as a 9-year-old in Germany when members at a local club gave him a discarded 2 wood, a 3 iron, 7 iron and a bent putter. Langer parlayed those clubs into two Masters championships and, in 2009, he won all three of the major awards on the U.S. Champions Tour. Tom Duffy was the physician.
