CORY PROVUS

Game 785 | January 27, 2012 | Jamey Carroll, Danny Valencia, Cory Provus
One of the last remaining veterans of the late Montreal Expos, Carroll, who turned 38 during the year, was signed as a free agent by the Twins before the 2012 season. He played in 132 games, splitting his time at second, shortstop and third, while batting .268 with 40 RBIs. Valencia, who appeared to have won third base with a strong second half in 20ll, struggled early, was sent to Rochester and finished the year in the Boston Red Sox organization. Provus, who most recently teamed with Bob Uecker in Milwaukee, succeeded John Gordon as the play-by-play voice of the Twins.

Game 801 | January 25, 2013 | Josh Willingham, Scott Diamond, Cory Provus
With TwinsFest in its final year at the Metrodome, the Twins invited Willingham and Diamond to preview the 2013 season. Willingham had his best season in 2012 with 35 home runs and 110 runs batted in. Diamond led all Twins starters in 2012 with a 12-9 record, also a career best.

Game 819 | January 24, 2014 | Ricky Nolasco, Brian Dozier, Cory Provus
Appearing in conjunction with the Twins' annual TwinsFest, the meeting featured a free-agent pitcher, Nolasco, and returning second baseman, Dozier. Nolasco had trouble adjusting to American League batters and finished the season with a 6-12 record. Dozier, on the other hand, led the team with 23 home runs and became one of the best second baseman in major league baseball.

Game 836 | January 23, 2016 | Torii Hunter, Kurt Suzuki, Cory Provus
Hunter, who announced his retirement at the end of the 2015 season, wanted to finish his career where he started it, in Minnesota. He had 22 home runs and 81 runs batted in while bringing fun and inspiration to the Twins clubhouse. Suzuki caught 131 games with 50 RBIs and a .240 batting average. Twins radio broadcaster Cory Provus served as the moderator.

Game 896 | May 23, 2018 | Derek Falvey, Paul Molitor, Cory Provus
Molitor, the Hall of Fame infielder from Saint Paul, was coming off a season in which he had been named American League Manager of the Year. Top prospects Byron Buxton and Miguel Sano were injured and spent most of the season in the minor leagues. The team finished with a 78-84 record, 13 games behind division-leading Cleveland. Molitor was fired at the end of the season.

Game 908 | January 25, 2019 | Rocco Baldelli, Cory Provus
The new Twins manager said he interviewed with five teams before accepting the Twins offer. With the off-season moves the team has made he said he was confident the team would have substantially more power from the bats of Nelson Cruz, C.J. Cron and Jonathan Schoop. He was right. In his first year as manager the team won the American League Central Division and hit a major-league record 307 homers.

Game 913 | May 14, 2019 | Derek Falvey, Thad Levine, Cory Provus
The Twins baseball leaders agreed that the long-term plan for winning teams had to come from building a strong minor league feeder system rather than free agency. Falvey said the Twins' farm system was currently ranked 5th or 6th among all teams. Levine said the team had offered long-term deals to a number of young players and that they were thrilled that Jorge Polanco and Max Kepler had accepted. Falvey said that some form of a salary cap might be part of the next round of negotiations on a Collective Bargaining Agreement with players.

Game 925 | January 24, 2020 | Jake Odorizzi, Taylor Rogers, Cory Provus
Minnesota Twins pitchers Jake Odorizzi and Taylor Rogers were the guest speakers in what was to be a Covid-shortened season. Odorizzi, bothered by a series of injuries, finished with a 0-2 record with only 13.2 innings pitched. He was signed by Houston for the 2021 season. Rogers led all Twins relief pitchers with nine saves on what turned out to be one of the best bullpens in major league baseball.
