A first-round pick of the Montreal Canadians in the 1974 NHL Amateur Draft, Risebrough won four consecutive Stanley Cups as a player with Montreal from 1976-1979. Prior to joining the Minnesota Wild as the team's First Vice President and General Manager, Risebrough, as Vice President of Hockey Operations, had taken his Edmonton Oilers into three straight years of Stanley Cup playoffs after missing the playoffs four straight years before his arrival.

Risebrough, the team's president and general manager, said he had high expectations for top draft choice Pierre-Marc Bouchard.

Leiweke was named the Wild's first president in 1999 and became chief operating officer two years later. Before joining the Wild he held management positions with the First Tee Foundation, the PGA Tour; Vancouver Canucks and Golden State Warriors. He left the Wild later in 2003 to become CEO of the Seattle Seahawks. Risebrough joined the Wild management group in September 1999, three months after Leiweke was hired.

Scoring goals was a problem for the 2003-'04 Wild hockey team. They finished 30-29-20-3, good for 10th overall in the Western Conference. The season was marked by the outstanding goaltending of Dwayne Roloson and Manny Fernandez, as Roloson won the Roger Crozier award for the league's best save percentage. Alexander Daigle, Andrew Brunette and Marian Gaborik led the team in scoring, but Gaborik missed 17 games because of injuries.

It was the fifth season behind the radio microphone for veteran broadcaster Kurtz. He and President/General Manager Risebrough previewed the up-coming 2005-06 season. The Wild roster was the third youngest in the league, and they were led in scoring by veteran center Brian Rolston. Winger Benoit Pouliot was the team's first-round draft choice.

Led in scoring by Brian Rolston and newly acquired Pavol Demitra the Minnesota Wild finished second in the Northwest Division with a record of 48-26-8, best in the team's six-year history. Free agent goaltender Niklas Backstrom alternated in goal with veteran Manny Fernandez. The team lost to Anaheim in the first round of the playoffs. Risebrough was an original member of the Wild management team, and Naegele would sell the team in 2008 to Wisconsin businessman Craig Leipold.

Playing strong defense in front of the solid goaltending of Niklas Backstrom, the Minnesota Wild won their first Northwest Division title in the 2007 -'08 season. Alternate goalie Manny Fernandez was traded to Boston, and Backstrom emerged as one of the better goalies in the league. Marian Gaborik, Pierre-Marc Bouchard, Brian Rolston and Pavol Dmitra were the team's leading scorers. This was owner Naegele's last Dunkers meeting, as he sold the team 15 months later.
