GLEN TAYLOR

Game 467 | September 13, 1994 | Glen Taylor
With sagging attendance and mounting costs, the Timberwolves owners tried unsuccessfully to sell the team to New Orleans interests. Blocked by the NBA, they sold to Mankato businessman Taylor, who was best known to Minnesotans as the Minority Leader of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1984-1986.

Game 522 | November 12, 1997 | Glen Taylor, Stephen Marbury
The biggest trade in the early history of the Minnesota Timberwolves occurred immediately after the 1996 draft when they shipped Ray Allen to Milwaukee for Marbury, the All-American point guard from Georgia Tech. Owner Taylor's original plan was to team the explosive Marbury with the rapidly developing Kevin Garnett. Marbury was named to the NBA All-Rookie team, and the pair led the Timberwolves into the NBA playoffs in both 1997 and 1998.

Game 553 | September 29, 1999 | Wally Szczerbiak, William Avery, Glen Taylor
The Timberwolves had two of the top 14 picks in the first round of the 1999 NBA draft. Owner Taylor introduced Miami of Ohio's Szczerbiak, taken with the sixth pick, and Duke guard Avery, the 14th selection. Szczerbiak had seven productive seasons with the Timberwolves, averaging in double figures each year. Avery played three years for the Timberwolves, averaging 2.7 points per game.

Game 615 | March 19, 2003 | Glen Taylor
The Timberwolves owner explained his philosophy of putting a winning team together. The formula paid off well for the team in 2002-'03 as they finished 51-31 with Kevin Garnett and Wally Szczerbiak leading the team in scoring. They lost to the Lakers 4-2 in the first round of the NBA playoffs.

Game 640 | September 9, 2004 | Glen Taylor, Kevin McHale, Flip Saunders
Led by the explosive combination of Kevin Garnett, Latrell Sprewell, Sam Cassell and Wally Szczerbiak, the 2003-'04 Minnesota Timberwolves, under Coach Flip Saunders, won two rounds of the playoffs before losing to the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2004 Western Conference finals. Things started poorly for the 2004-'05 team, and Saunders was fired in February, with McHale taking over as interim coach. Sid Hartman was the physician for the meeting.

Game 704 | September 25, 2007 | Glen Taylor
The Timberwolves had traded Kevin Garnett to Boston for Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair and draft choices. Along with first-round draft choice Corey Brewer, the team would feature a new look for 2007-'08, and owner Taylor joined Dunkers to talk about the team's future and new direction. The team finished the season with a 22-60 record.
