In town to cover the PGA Championship at Hazeltine, Nantz talked about his career in broadcasting going back to his college days when he was a golf teammate of Fred Couples. He was befriended by legendary broadcaster Jim McKay, and got his network start while still in his 20s. He amused Dunkers with his tales of a round of golf with former Presidents Bush (41) and ClintonNantz also gave away a signed copy of his book to the person in the room whose birthday was closest to that day. That person, whose birthday is on August 13th, was Dunker member Charlie Mahar.

The veteran CBS broadcaster came to Minnesota a day early to speak to Dunkers in advance of the Final Four weekend. He said he dreamed about broadcasting major golf events even in college when his roommate was future golf great Fred Couples. Nantz said he was looking forward to Sid Hartman's 100th birthday in 2020 and said he was both honored and humbled to be the only voice of the Masters, the Super Bowl and the Final Four in a single season.
