A future member of the NABC and NAIA Halls of Fame, the Hamline basketball coach turned out a series of championship teams in the 1940s and 1950s. A remarkable seven Hamline players under Hutton went on to play professionally. They included John Norlander; Howie Schultz, Rollie Seltz, Hal Haskins, Jim Fritsche, Joe Hutton Jr. and long-time Dunker Vern Mikkelsen.
