Only WCCO TV's Rosen remained from the group of sports anchors who had spoken to Dunkers in the summer of 1989. Once again they talked about their backgrounds and how they came to their current positions. Schmit, after leaving KSTP TV, became a member of Dunkers in 2007.

It had been only a year since the primary TV sports anchors had visited Dunkers, but again there were several changes in the roster. Mark Rosen (Ch 4), Joe Schmit (Ch 5) and Randy Shaver (CH 11) made return appearances. It was the first appearance for Jeff Grayson (Ch 9) and Jim Rich (Ch 29).

The four speakers reminisced about the growth and development of hockey in Minnesota and the contributions of Minnesotans to U.S. Olympic teams over the yea1'S. Topics ranged from John Mariucci to Herb Brooks and the 1980 Olympic Gold Medal team. Nanne, a Gopher legend, played for and was the coach and general manager of the Minnesota North Stars. Williamson, a Gopher All American, coached the U.S. National teams in the World Championships in 1967, 1969 and 1971, and coached the U.S. Olympic team in 1968 and 1972. Doc Nagobads, age 94, was chosen by Brooks to be the team physician for the 1980 Olympic winners at Lake Placid. Harrington passed his 1980 gold medal around the room, instantly creating a cell-phone photo flurry of activity. He joined the meeting shortly after being named head coach of Minnesota State Mankato's women's hockey team. Dunker Joe Schmit led the discussion.

The ESPN broadcasters, in town to cover the Gophers' season opener against number two ranked TCU, told Dunkers about how they prepare for games. They shared their "keys to the game" and how to watch a game for early signs of failures and successes by both the offense and defense. Once again, Joe Schmit led the discussion.

Lou Nanne, Brad Maxwell and Brian Bellows told stories of what they were able to get away with on the ice as active players and how much they were looking forward to participating in the North Stars/Blackhawks Alumni Game at TCF Bank Stadium. Dunker and KSTP TV sportscaster Joe Schmit acted as moderator, and the North Stars won the game 6-4 in front of an announced crowd of 37,922.

The topic was the changing look of defenses in the National Football League, and Dunkers would be hard pressed to find two more qualified speakers. Studwell ranks second to legendary Dick Butkus in career tackles at Illinois. Thought to be too small to play in the National Football League, he lasted until the 9th round of the 1977 draft. He spent from 1977-1990 with the Minnesota Vikings and retired as the team's all-time leading tackler with 1,981 career tackles. He is currently Director of Collegiate Scouting for the Vikings. Leber, a native of Vermillion, S.D., was drafted out of Kansas State by the San Diego Chargers. After two seasons with the Chargers he was signed by the Vikings and quickly became a starting linebacker for the next four seasons. He's now a regular on KFAN radio in the Twin Cities. Halfway through his first year as a retired Twin, Mauer made his third Dunkers' appearance. He said he told new Twins manager Rocco Baldelli that he was just across the river and would be happy to help anytime he was needed. He said that Justin Morneau was his favorite teammate and that his biggest thrill was catching the Twins 2004 opener with Brad Radke, his high school hero, pitching for the Twins. Mauer went on to win three American League batting titles, play in six All-Star games and win three Gold Gloves.

Entering his eighth season as men's basketball coach at the University of Minnesota, Richard Pitino and moderator Joe Schmit talked about three key additions to the Gopher program via the college transfer portal. Those players, Liam Robbins, Brandon Johnson and Both Gach, all started at some point during the season. The team finished with a record of 13-12, and Coach Pitino was dismissed shortly after the end of the season.
