A fifth-round pick out of Arizona State in 1973, McClanahan had a solid career as the "other back" who shared time in the Vikings backfield with All-Pro Chuck Foreman. Lynn, a frequent Dunkers guest, was hired as an assistant to Max Winter in 1974 and became the team's General Manager in 1975.

Fresh from being selected in the first round of the 1977 NFL draft, Rice University quarterback Tommy Kramer met with Dunkers. Two years later he became the Vikings' starter after the retirement of Fran Tarkenton. He played with the Vikings for a dozen years and once threw for six touchdowns in a game against the Green Bay Packers. He earned the nickname of "Two-Minute Tommy" for the number of times he led the team to comeback victories in the final two minutes of the game.

In his years of running the Minnesota Vikings, Lynn also became an influential figure in the National Football League. At the urging of Gov. Rudy Perpich, Lynn, along with Marilyn Carlson Nelson, and Dunkers Harvey Mackay and Dave Mona, was charged with bringing a Super Bowl to Minnesota. Lynn detailed the group's strategy in persuading NFL owners to award Super Bowl XXVI to Minnesota for 1992.

The Vikings, with Herschel Walker in the fold for the entire season, were a popular choice to show marked improvement in 1990. Lynn, who shocked the football world with the Walker trade, explained to Dunkers his reasoning for making Dallas an offer they couldn't refuse. In 11 games with the Vikings in 1989 Walker rushed for 669 yards and five touchdowns.
