Proclaiming "Fun is Good," Veeck brought minor league baseball back to Minnesota when he established the St. Paul Saints in 1993. Playing to large young crowds, Veeck's teams featured players such as Minnie Minoso, Darryl Strawberry, J.D. Drew, Jack Morris and Ila Borders. Baseballs were delivered to the home plate umpire courtesy of a trained pig. In 2008, the pig was christened "Boarack Ohama."

Veeck's St. Paul Saints continued to thrive in 1996 with the attendance nearing that of the Twins on several occasions. Highlight of the 1996 Saints season was the signing of former major league all-star Darryl Strawberry as an outfielder. On June 3, he hit a home run in Duluth that was estimated to have traveled 522 feet. A month later he signed a contract to return to the major leagues with the New York Yankees.

Insisting that "baseball should be fun," St. Paul Saints co-owner Veeck told stories of his long career in baseball. He shared the background on "Disco Demolition Night, which caused the Chicago White Sox to forfeit a game and led to his banishment from Major League Baseball. He also talked about his partnership with co-owner and actor Bill Murray and some of the ideas they shared to keep fans entertained.

A realignment of minor league baseball resulted in the Twins and the St. Paul Saints reaching an agreement for the Saints to become the Twins Triple AAA affiliate in ballparks separated by only 10 miles. Executives from both teams discussed the agreement and the marketing opportunities the teams plan to explore. Dave St. Peter set up this special meeting after the Twins' and Saints' partnership was announced to have St. Paul and CHS Field serve as its AAA farm club.

After 30 years of having an ownership stake in the St. Paul Saints baseball team, Veeck talked about the decision to sell the Saints to the Minnesota Twins. With the acquisition the Twins had their Triple AAA affiliate only 11 miles away…the closest such relationship in all of major league baseball.
