TIM BREWSTER

Game 691 | February 15, 2007 | Tim Brewster
Virtually unknown to the media and Gopher fans, Brewster was the surprise selection of Athletic Director Joel Maturi to succeed Glen Mason. A former tight end at Illinois, Brewster had a solid career as an assistant to Mac Brown at North Carolina and Texas, Mike Shanahan at the Denver Broncos and Marty Schottenheimer at the San Diego Chargers. Highly recommended by these and other coaches, Brewster had a reputation for being one of the best recruiters in the country.

Game 702 | August 28, 2007 | Tim Brewster
Making an unusual second appearance in the same year, the new Gopher football coach said he had high expectations despite dismissing four of his better players for off-season activities in which they had been charged with sexual assault. The team, trying to adjust to new offensive and defensive schemes, struggled to a 1-11 record in Brewster's first season as head coach.

Game 719 | August 21, 2008 | Tim Brewster
Coming off the best recruiting year in the recent history of the Gopher football program, Coach Brewster told Dunkers he expected this year's team to be "greatly improved" from last year's team, which struggled to learn new offensive and defensive schemes and finished last in the Big Ten with a 1-11 record. Good as the recruiting class was expected to be, Brewster said he looked for the most production out of veterans such as quarterback Adam Weber, wide receiver Eric Decker and defensive lineman Willie VanDeSteeg.

Game 741 | September 1, 2009 | Tim Brewster
Only four days before the Gopher football team’s season opener at Syracuse, Coach Brewster shared his thoughts on his 2009 team and the prospect of having Gopher football back on campus for the first time in 27 years. He commented on how coincidental it was to be opening on the road in the Carrier Dome after spending so many years at the Metrodome.

Game 761 | August 26, 2010 | Tim Brewster
Entering his fourth season as head coach of Gopher football, Brewster expressed optimism for the coming year. Fifty-two days later he was fired in mid-season after his team got off to a 1-6 start with losses to Northern Illinois and the University of South Dakota.
